Kevin Magnussen must seriously fear a one Grand Prix weekend suspension in Formula 1. The Haas F1 driver received five penalty points on his racing licence from the stewards for a series of incidents in Miami, bringing his total to 10. For 12 penalty points, a suspension follows and the problematic thing for the Dane is that his first points do not expire for another 10 months.

Magnussen has done well this season. He got the first 3 of 10 points after an incident with Alexander Albon in the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix. This was followed by 2 penalty points in China for a touch with Yuki Tsunoda. He got 3 points for repeatedly leaving the racing line in the sprint race in Miami and 2 penalty points for crashing Logan Sargeant.

Only on 9 March next year, the first 3 points will expire. so the 31-year-old driver must be extremely careful for the next 10 months. If a driver is found guilty of an incident, 2 penalty points are usually added to one's licence. So, in that case, Magnussen is screwed and Haas is also screwed. They will then have to drum up a reserve driver. That will then presumably be Oliver Bearman.

Sergio Perez is currently on 8 penalty points, making him second in the rankings where you would rather be at the bottom. Logan Sargeant also collected 8 points, while Aston Martin drivers Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso are on 7 and 6 points respectively.

Gasly knows what it feels like

Pierre Gasly, like Kevin Magnussen, also had to seriously fear a suspension at the end of 2022. The Frenchman - at the time racing for AlphaTauri - was also on 10 penalty points for several Grands Prix and also had to fear a race suspension for weeks. For a while, it even looked like that race ban would actually come when he had to report to the stewards after the sprint race, but in the end, he got away with a warning.
