Mitch Evans detailed the "relief" he felt after finally winning at the Circuit de Monaco, following a superb display in the Monaco E-Prix.

Having secured three consecutive podiums in Monaco, Evans headed into the eighth round of Formula E Season 10 as a favourite for victory. He was the quickest driver throughout the day and would have likely claimed pole, if not for an error in his semi-final duel.

Evans made a strong start and worked together with team-mate Nick Cassidy, with the pair having taken it in turns to hold up the pack so that they could both take their Attack Modes.

It was a strategic masterclass by Jaguar which secured its first one-two of 2024 and Evans' first victory at the Principality.

"Yeah, finally, that's all I can really say," Evans told RacingNews365. "And obviously it's my first win of the season as well, so to do it here is pretty, pretty mega, special place.

"And yeah, obviously, a one-two as well for the team. It's incredible. A big, big day for the team."

Weight off shoulders

Evans' Monaco win was his first of the season and has elevated him straight into title contention.

After a tough start to the year, the result has come at the perfect time for the New Zealander, who is hopeful he can build on his result in Berlin.

"I hope so," said Evans. "Look, I won in Berlin last year and we're going there next, but it's a new layout. I'm hoping for that, but you just you just never know.

"This season has been so random for me, I've been quick and I've not really come away with a whole lot. So I'm hoping this is a bit of a change in momentum. But in Formula E, you just never know, just things can change so quickly.

"But I'll definitely be doing all the work I can to make sure we can continue on this pathway."

Staggeringly, Evans also featured on the Monaco podium without winning three times in GP2 (known now as F2), illustrating how often he had fallen just short of victory at the world's most famous circuit.

To have finally achieved the result he has been pursuing for years has lifted a significant weight from his shoulders.

"It's incredible," beamed Evans. "Like I was on the podium four times in F2 and never won. Second and thirds, I've been on the podium three times before today.

"So yeah, it's just a lot of relief to finally get it done because I feel like this track really suits me. And I feel like I could've had multiple wins here. But it's just circumstances.

"Unfortunately, it didn't play that way. So to finally get it done today means a lot to me."
