Krack coy on Aston Martin win chances

Mike Krack has insisted he "will not make any predictions" over when Aston Martin will win a Formula 1 race despite the team's good form.

The AMR23 has propelled the Silverstone-based outfit from a midfield runner to third in the Constructors' standings, with Fernando Alonso claiming five podiums from seven races and two front-row starting slots.

Red Bull's dominance is such that it has been touted to become the first F1 team to win every Grand Prix in a season, with Aston Martin and Mercedes the likely parties to stop the clean sweep.

Krack, however, wants to trust in the process of building the team up as opposed to making any bold claims.

No predictions

"It is very difficult to say [when Aston Martin could win] because it’s such a relative competition that you are depending on the pace of others [as much as] you are depending on yourself," Krack told media, including RacingNews365.com.

"So I think it would be bold to say we will win this one, or that we are close to winning.

"We have to be there at each opportunity and, if it comes, we have to be ready. Until then, we have to work hard to keep ourselves in the position to be there.

"I will not make any predictions of when we're going to win a race. We have to see race by race and it is also a development game that is going on.

"We might also have a situation where when the championships are won, there is more concentration on the future and then other teams can catch up [to Red Bull].

"So let's take it race by race and keep our fingers crossed that someone else will win one or two or three."

Can anyone stop Red Bull?

Ferrari Team Principal Frederic Vasseur echoed Krack's opinion, adding: "I'm taking the races one after one and I'm thinking about the next one, it's difficult to predict where we'll be in six months' time in terms of development. We have to be realistic.

"You never know what could happen and you never know also what will be the right development [path] over the next couple of weeks or months.

"But let's take the races one after one and be focused on what we are doing on track."
