Nicholas Latifi has driven his last Formula 1 race in Abu Dhabi. The Canadian will be replaced by rookie Logan Sargeant next year. Latifi has faced a lot of criticism in recent years for his poor performance, but the driver says he never felt comfortable in the Williams.

Latifi has had a very difficult time in F1 compared to teammates George Russell and Alexander Albon. In Formula 2, Latifi could still battle it out with the two drivers, but in the king class of motorsport, the gap was remarkably wide.

Speaking to Motorlat Latifi says it was difficult for him to get the ultimate performance out of the Williams car. "I just I haven’t been able to find that trust and confidence that’s been needed really. It’s as simple as that. And the car is the tenth slowest car on the grid so that’s one thing. But it’s not just the fact that we are lacking downforce, it’s the balance of the car as well that we struggle with that in particular."

Latifi never comfortable in the Williams

Latifi reveals that he never really felt comfortable in the car. Former teammates Russell and Albon were better able to cope with the moderate qualities of the FW44, though. "I guess guys like George (Russell) and Alex (Albon) have struggled less with that and have been able to adapt to it better. Whereas for me just where I like to have the car, I’ve just never been able to get that feeling and have the car in that window.”
