With six races to go, the AlphaTauri team are putting up a fight. In a press release, driver Pierre Gasly looks ahead to the final stage of the season, starting with the race in Singapore.

AlphaTauri are probably not experiencing the season they were hoping for. Gasly finished ninth last year with a whopping 110 points, but this year the team has just 33 points in total. That puts it in a paltry eighth place among constructors, one point behind Haas and only just ahead of Aston Martin.

With six races to go, AlphaTauri is now preparing for a final sprint. The arrows are obviously set on Haas first, but Gasly thinks there is still more in it than that.

"has to be to at least move up as much as possible, and it’s looking very tight," the AlphaTauri driver said in the press release. "It’s not impossible for us to catch Alfa Romeo for sixth, but it might be complicated and depend on us having a really great end to the season. We have to aim to score points with both cars as often as possible, even if it’s not easy."

Back to Singapore for the first time in three years

The final stage of the season begins this weekend with the Singapore Grand Prix. Although it has been a while since Formula 1 visited this circuit, Gasly still has fond memories of the Marina Bay street circuit. The Frenchman still scored a handsome eighth place there in 2019, also then in an AlphaTauri, although the team was then called Toro Rosso. So Gasly is also looking ahead to what this weekend's race could bring.

"Singapore is one of my favourite tracks. It’s a complicated street circuit which means you cannot make any mistakes at all, so it’s challenging in terms of the level of concentration required. We should also have an aero update for this race, so we will see what it brings in terms of performance. We will do our best to get the most out of the car, and do everything as well as possible as a team."
