Valtteri Bottas believes that there should be a "high focus" on Alfa Romeo's reliability issues, following his Hungarian Grand Prix retirement. The Finn suffered his third race retirement of the season at the Hungaroring after encountering fuel system issues. Combined, Bottas and teammate Guanyu Zhou have failed to finish seven Grands Prix this season, owing to a variety of problems. Speaking after the race, Bottas called on Alfa Romeo to get on top of their reliability issues before it costs them big points opportunities. "We had some pace this weekend, a bit more than the previous weekend, so that's getting there, but we need to finish the race," Bottas told media, including RacingNews365.com . "It's not consistent enough and we know it. "We need to keep working on that, because it would have been an even greater shame if we were aiming to score points again and we had that issue. "There will be a high focus on that."
Bottas: Hard tyre struggles hindered points chances
Alfa Romeo are now point-less in their last four races, and have seen their chances of catching midfield rivals Alpine and McLaren vastly reduce. The Hinwil-based team were looking unlikely to secure any points in Budapest, owing in part to their difficulties with the Hard tyre. Zhou finished the race in P13. "It was was tricky," confirmed Bottas. "A bit like in France, it felt like the Hard tyre didn't feel that fast. "We committed to one-stop with a Medium-to-Hard strategy, and towards the end of the race I felt that it didn't work as planned, but we tried. "I think ultimately the Hard tyre didn't work quite as well as I thought it should".
