Most of the attention in Formula 1 is focused on the title battle between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, but there's also an interesting battle for third in the constructors' championship. McLaren and Ferrari have been fighting hard, and Lando Norris sees chances to get past the Italian team.

Ferrari ahead

For Sunday's United States Grand Prix, Ferrari start in 6th and 7th with McLaren in the two places behind. Norris sees chances to get ahead of their rivals on the first lap, and with the tyre situation. Carlos Sainz set his fastest time in Q2 using the soft tyres and therefore is one of two drivers starting on the red marked tyre.

"The aim is to be ahead of the Ferrari's. Red Bull and Mercedes are too far ahead but we have a chance to beat the Ferrari's so the start will be important and the first lap. There are going to be pitstops and Carlos starting on softs so there are chances," Norris told Sky Sports.

"There is only so much that you can do. Ferrari were fast today. We needed pretty much a perfect lap to be ahead of them. They were pretty much ahead through qualifying. They have a good package. I made some mistakes on my lap. Overpushed in the last few corners."
