Max Verstappen starts the Austrian Grand Prix as championship leader. The 23-year old Dutchman's lead could have been even bigger if his rear tyre hadn't suddenly burst at the Baku City Circuit. He is still not happy with Pirelli's explanation, although he wants to put the matter behind him.

Pirelli has announced the introduction of new rear tyres in Great Britain to ensure safety. This while the Italian tyre supplier first stated that it was not their fault. In Austria, the teams can in any case already test with the new rubber.

Verstappen doesn't get it

Verstappen thinks it's a strange story. "If nothing had been wrong, they wouldn't have had to change it. That seems clear to me. We'll see how it works out for everyone, but I'm not worried about that. No, I don't need to prove myself right, but it's clear that something was wrong", the fourteen-time Grand Prix winner told Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf during the press conference.

Verstappen does not expect the tyres to cause any problems. Lewis Hamilton also said earlier that he doesn't expect any major changes.
