De Vries set for second F1 practice outing with another team

Article To news overview © XPB Nyck de Vries looks set to be given another Free Practice 1 outing at an F1 weekend in 2022, with Mercedes planning for the Dutchman to drive their car later in the season. The reigning Formula E Champion was behind the wheel of the Williams FW44 for FP1 at the Spanish Grand Prix, and could be given another opportunity there, given that teams must now complete two mandated young driver sessions during the campaign. This may not happen, though, as Dave Robson – Head of Vehicle Performance at the Grove-based squad – indicated over the weekend that there were no further plans to run de Vries in their car again in 2022.
