High degradation in Austin– tyre analysis after the opening day

The opening day for this weekend’s United States Grand Prix presented Pirelli’s tyres with a huge stress to deal with due to the high temperatures and the punishingly fast corners of the Circuit of the Americas. Formula One last visited the Circuit of the Americas in 2019 as the coronavirus pandemic forced to sport to call off the Texas race last year. Since then, around 40% of the track has been resurfaced. F1’s sole tyre manufacturer Pirelli has confirmed the same nomination as two years ago in Austin based on the available data, with the three compounds in the middle of the range: C2 as the P Zero White hard, C3 as the P Zero Yellow medium, and C4 as the P Zero Red soft.
