Haas boss Guenther Steiner believes rivals have resorted to legal actions to try and stop the American team, simply because they cannot beat them on track...

Renault protested last weekend as Romain Grosjean's floor did not meet the FIA regulations and the Frenchman was stripped of his sixth place finish when the race stewards and the FIA agreed with them.

However, Haas have appealed to the FIA's International Court of Appeal because the team are adamant that they did nothing wrong.

Haas are now behind Renault in the race for fourth place following the protest and Steiner believes that's why Renault have acted.

Steiner was asked if the controversy was a coincedence or if he expected it, Steiner replied: "I woudn't expect it, but sometimes people react this way.

"If they cannot beat you on the track, they try to beat you in court. That is what seems to be happening. You have to work hard to be envied. We'd rather work hard for it and fight even more."

Steiner believes that when there is a close battle for spots in the constructors' championship, teams do consider any political action they can take.

"Sometimes, you have to do that. You take any approach in racing. Is it the right thing to do? I'll let the others determine that," Steiner added to Autosport.
