Toro Rosso driver Pierre Gasly seems to be having a tough season for Red Bulls development team, but the 22-year-old Frenchman thinks there are a lot of positives to be taken from this season.
Gasly finished within the points last weekend at Spa Francorchamps in P9, which is a sign of how well Honda are developing throughout this season. That's because Spa is a very power-heavy circuit, and power typically was the area where the Japanese power unit struggled most. Talking to Dutch tv station NOS, the Red Bull driver of next season explained why he thinks his relationship with Honda this season and in years past will carry over to Red Bull in 2019.
"The engine keeps getting better and the car is very stable," Gasly said.
"At the same time, we're developing things.
"The competition is not sitting still either, but we are capable of making another step."
Talking about next season and his partnership with Max Verstappen, Gasly explained that he'll be bringing a lot of things to the table.
"We're very busy for next season.
"Max [Verstappen] will profit from the progress we're making this season.
"The team focuses on next season because we can't make podium places right now.
"I understand that, because we'll have more chance of winning with Red Bull next year."
