Ferrari are back as a Formula 1 force - but how have they done it?
In the second of Sky Sports F1's special SkyPad technical features from the Bahrain GP, Ted Kravitz and Pat Symonds look at how Ferrari's new SF70-H car has returned the team to winning ways and posed a fierce challenge for Mercedes so far this season.
Using state-of-the-art animated graphics, Ted and Pat explain Ferrari's 2017 design philosophy, the aspects that are making the difference both above and under the chassis, and why it's not all about the SF70-H's eye-catching and innovative sidepods.
Watch the feature in the video at the top of the page as the secrets of Ferrari's 2017 car are revealed!
Now, below, watch the first installment of the two-part feature when Ted and Pat gave the SkyPad treatment to the Mercedes W08 from Saturday's Qualifying show.
New Ferrari chief a "revelation"
Without a world title for nearly a decade, few had tipped Ferrari for a genuine title challenge this year after completing their second winless season in three years in 2016.
However, under the stewardship of former engine chief Mattia Binotto since the departure of the highly-regarded James Allison last summer, the new SF70-H has performed impressively since the start of testing and Symonds says the Italian deserves lots of credit.
"He's done a fantastic job and much to our surprise," said Symonds. "We all know how good James Allison was and I certainly said it was a mistake for Ferrari to let James go. But this guy has come along, he's an engine man, but they seem to have a superb chassis.
"Us Brits sometimes talk about can the Italians organise their racing team - he's organised it. He's a revelation, he's done a super job."
