2026 will be ‘the end' of Alonso's F1 career – Schumacher
Apr.1 Another former Formula 1 winner has joined Rene Arnoux in suggesting veteran Fernando Alonso is nearing the end of his competitive days on the grid. Arnoux, who like 43-year-old Alonso also raced for Ferrari, described the Spaniard as 'one of the disappointments' the 2025 season so far in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport. 'When he's fighting close to (Lance) Stroll, it says a lot,' the 76-year-old Frenchman said. 'I think he is nearing the end of his career.' Shanghai was Alonso's 406th grand prix, meaning that for exactly the entire second half of his career, he has failed to add to his tally of 32 wins.
