Leclerc kicks off 18-inch tyre tests for 2022 at Jerez

Charles Leclerc got back behind the wheel of Ferrari's 2019-spec SF90 as sole tyre supplier Pirelli kick-started its 2022 tyre testing programme at Spanish venue Jerez on Monday. Leclerc completed 110 laps on a prototype 18-inch Intermediate tyre on an artificially dampened circuit in a heavily modified SF90 ‘mule'. All 10 teams on the current grid are expected to take part in the programme in modified 2019 cars, which have been adapted to try and represent downforce levels expected to be seen under the new regulations.
