Pirelli fear full 18-inch tyre test not possible
Pirelli are concerned that they won't be able to conduct a full testing programme in 2021 for the upcoming 18-inch tyres. Initially the 13-inch tyres were set to be dropped at the end of this year in favour of 18-inch rubber as part of the new rules coming into the sport. But all that was pushed back a year, meaning the current 13-inch tyres will be in use again for 2021. Pirelli had planned an extensive testing programme for this year to get the 18-inch tyres ready for the 2022 season, but the 25 days of wet and dry running which they were allocated fell apart due to the global pandemic.
