Haas couldn't fix K-Mag's car without a penalty

Guenther Steiner has revealed Haas had to choose between a penalty or leaving Kevin Magnussen's gearbox as it was in Parc Ferme at Imola. They chose the latter. Magnussen retired from Sunday's Emilia Romagna Grand Prix due to a severe headache. The Danish driver, racing in his final season with Haas, had a upshift problem that materialised in qualifying. Given that the cars cannot be changed between qualifying and the grand prix, Haas had to choose between a penalty or leaving the problem as it was.
