Sochi Qualifying: Vettel red flag nearly costs Hamilton

Qualifying for the Russian Grand Prix is underway, with some major Q2 drama as a Sebastian Vettel red flag nearly eliminated Lewis Hamilton. Unable to set a legal time before Vettel spun into the barriers with two minutes in the session remaining, Hamilton got over the line for his final lap with only 1.25 seconds in the session remaining. Managing a 1:32.835, Hamilton ended up fourth-fastest, with Daniel Ricciardo a surprise leader for Renault, 0.617 seconds faster than the Briton heading into the Q3 showdown. Report in progress…
