Hamilton feels ‘awkward' discussing new Merc contract

Lewis Hamilton says the only reason why he is yet to sign a new contract with Mercedes is that he feels “a little bit awkward” due to the economic uncertainty caused by the global health pandemic. The World Champion’s team-mate Valtteri Bottas was confirmed for a fifth year with F1’s dominant team on the eve of the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix weekend at Silverstone. As things stand, Hamilton does not have a contract in place for next year, albeit the overwhelming likelihood is that he will stay with Mercedes whom he joined in 2013.
