Red Bull wanted experienced engineer – Albon

Alexander Albon has revealed that Red Bull wanted an experienced engineer in order to help the team get on top of its tricky RB16. It was announced earlier this week that Simon Rennie will return to the role of Race Engineer, having been in the position at Red Bull from 2013 to 2018, and previously at Renault. Rennie returned to a non-travelling position after 2018, coinciding with Daniel Ricciardo’s departure, with Mike Lugg taking over the role for Ricciardo’s replacement Pierre Gasly and then mid-2019 recruit Albon.
