Sainz: Detail of Ferrari's analysis was a ‘surprise'

Carlos Sainz admits that Ferrari's analysis of him before offering him a seat for 2021 went far deeper than he initially thought. The Spaniard will replace Sebastian Vettel at Ferrari for 2021 where he will partner Charles Leclerc. Sainz enjoyed a breakout season in 2019 for McLaren in his first year with the team, scoring his maiden Formula 1 podium at the Brazilian Grand Prix. And he admits that initially he thought that Ferrari's analysis into him didn't stretch far beyond that podium, and so it was the reason they approached him to be Vettel's successor.
