Pringle: Silverstone almost missed out on F1 slot

Silverstone's managing director Stuart Pringle revealed there was a genuine 'risk' of England missing out on a slot on the revised F1 calendar. Earlier this week Formula 1 confirmed an eight-race European schedule that includes two grands prix at the Silverstone circuit. Those races, though, almost didn't happen. Silverstone was initially scheduled to host rounds three and four of the championship on the proposed schedule but those plans were halted by the UK government's decision to impose a 14-day quarantine on all travellers.
