Belgian GP threatened by extension of ban on mass gatherings

The 2019 Belgian Grand Prix event The Belgian Grand Prix is now in doubt after the country’s decision to extend its ban on mass gatherings to August 31. Spa-Francorchamps was set to host Round 14 of the 2020 Formula 1 World Championship on August 28-30, and would have been the first grand prix after the summer break. However, Belgium has been among the hardest hit nations by the coronavirus pandemic on a per capita basis with over 4,400 deaths so far out of a population of 11 million.
