Former IndyCar and NASCAR driver John Andretti dies aged 56

Former IndyCar and NASCAR driver John Andretti has died aged 56 after a long battle with colon cancer. A member of the legendary Andretti racing family, he competed in IndyCar, NASCAR, CART, IMSA GTP and Rolex Sports Car Series, achieving two wins in NASCAR and four pole positions. The son of Indianapolis 500 winner Mario Andretti's twin brother Aldo, John was also a cousin of former IndyCar driver and Andretti Autosport owner Michael. Andretti competed in the Indy 500 on 12 occasions, with a best finish of fifth during the 1991 edition of the famous race, while he also won the 1989 Daytona 24 Hours alongside with Bob Wollek and Derek Bell.
