Honda wants 'clean, fair race' under F1 engine regulations

Honda F1 technical director Toyoharu Tanabe says the Japanese company aspires to battle its rivals on a level playing field and without a competitor benefiting from an illicit edge. The FIA's recent clarification, through a technical directive issued in Austin, of a potential fuel flow scheme that would generate an increase in engine performance was believed to have targeted Ferrari. The clarification, and subsequent ruling prohibiting the fuel flow ploy in question, had come about as a result of a formal inquiry by Honda partner Red Bull Racing.
