McLaren: Focused on maximising our capabilities in Singapore

Singapore broke new ground for Formula 1, when, in 2008, the city-state hosted the sport’s first-ever night race. The inaugural Singapore Grand Prix got underway at 8pm local time, two hours after darkness had fallen, and the 5.065km/3.148-mile circuit had to be lit by more than 1500 trackside lamps. Since then there have been several tweaks to the track layout, but the fundamental challenge of the race remains the same. It’s a relatively long and slow lap, and the hot and humid equatorial conditions make it one of the toughest races of the year for the drivers.
