Albon: Surreal to have been given this massive opportunity
The demotion of Pierre Gasly from Red Bull back to Toro Rosso came as no surprise, but what did ambush the Formula 1 world is the team's decision to promote Alex Albon and not Daniil Kvyat. The decision is a huge gamble to fast-track the promising rookie up to the big time where there is nowhere to hide, with the added challenge of an on-fire Max Verstappen in the sister car! A big ask for a driver with only twelve F1 races under his belt. Nevertheless, it is what it is and the decision that rocked the slumber out of the summer break is that Albon will move to Verstappen's garage and Gasly back to the Toro Rosso pit alongside Kvyat in the sister car.
