McLaren exonerate ‘self-critical' Norris after Q1 exit

McLaren have defended Lando Norris, saying while it is good that he is 'self-critical', his Q1 exit in Germany was not entirely his fault. Norris' qualifying for the German Grand Prix ended in round one when he finished down in 16th place, 0.055s away from Q2. His team-mate Carlos Sainz continued, making it into Q3 where he finished seventh fastest. Norris blamed himself. 'I just didn't put my sectors together when it counted on the sectors and that cost me,' he said. 'This is the first time I've let the team down when there was more potential in the car, and Carlos was in Q3 again. Need to move on and look to tomorrow.' However, Norris wasn't entirely to blame.
