Alonso: Doing the 2020 Dakar would be an extreme step

Fernando Alonso has all but closed the door on a Dakar Rally foray anytime soon, the great Spaniard admitting that he is still keen to tackle the daunting endurance race but at the same time acknowledging that it would take far more committed to the project than he can afford right now. The double F1 World Champion tested a Toyota Gazoo prepped Dakar machine, in March, prompting speculation he would compete in January's race in Saudi Arabia. Asked by SoyMotor when he would consider such an endeavour, Alonso replied, 'I do not know, it's probably something I'll value in the future.
