Austria 2002 - The race that shook the F1 world

Team orders in motor racing have always been a controversial subject, but in Austria in 2002 the debate raged on to a whole new level. Ferrari's Rubens Barrichello was at the head of the field from the get-go, leading team mate Michael Schumacher in practice, qualifying and for the entire race bar the last few meters. Why? Because Rubens the good soldier was ordered by Scuderia boss Jean Todt - yes, the man who now safeguards F1's integrity - to let Schumacher win in order to consolidate his championship lead. The BBC reported the incident at the time with the headline: "Schumacher Steals Austrian Win." Wasn't that the truth?
