Nico Hulkenberg set for five-place penalty after ICE update

Nico Hulkenberg is set to take a grid penalty at the Austrian Grand Prix on account of using Renault’s upgraded engine. Renault introduced a new Spec B Internal Combustion Engine for its home round in France, though fitted it only to Daniel Ricciardo’s R.S.19. This was because Hulkenberg stood on the brink of a sanction and it did not want to relegate its driver at its home event. But on Saturday Renault confirmed that a new Spec B ICE will be fitted to Hulkenberg’s R.S.19, meaning he will take a five-place penalty into qualifying.
