Marcus Ericsson set for first run in 2019-spec Alfa Romeo

Marcus Ericsson is poised for his first run in 2019 Formula 1 machinery at next week’s Pirelli tyre test. Ericsson started almost 100 grands prix for Caterham and Sauber between 2014 and 2018, but lost his seat at the end of last year to Kimi Raikkonen. Ericsson nonetheless stayed on as a reserve driver and ambassador for the rebranded Alfa Romeo squad, acting as back-up to Raikkonen and full-time rookie Antonio Giovinazzi. The Swede also secured a seat in the IndyCar series with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports, bagging a maiden podium finish at the recent Detroit round.
