Mercedes duo set the pace in French GP FP1

Lewis Hamilton edged Mercedes team mate Valtteri Bottas by 0.069s to claim the top spot in the first free practice session for the French Grand Prix. It was a straight-forward 90 minutes for the Silver Arrows outfit, with both drivers achieving their fastest lap on the red soft tyre. Ferrari's Charles Leclerc concluded the morning third, 0.373s behind pacesetter Hamilton while Red Bull's Max Verstappen was fourth, with Sebastian Vettel and Pierre Gasly rounding off the top six. Everyone was greeted to Southern France's trademark sunny and warm weather on Friday morning, perfect conditions to kick of the race weekend.
