Leclerc: I knew I had to take a lot of risks

Monaco Grand Prix – Ferrari's Charles Leclerc was forced to retire with accident damage on Sunday, with the local hero clashing with Renault's Nico Hulkenberg early in the race. Leclerc's first race with Scuderia Ferrari on the streets of his hometown couldn't have gone much worse. Having been strong throughout practice, Leclerc's qualifying was ruined by a Ferrari strategic error that left him in the pits and in the drop zone at the end of Q1 – a mistake explained later by team boss Mattia Binotto.
