Antonio Giovinazzi set for first engine penalty of 2019

Antonio Giovinazzi is set to receive the first engine-related penalty of 2019 after taking on new Control Electronics in his Ferrari-powered Alfa Romeo C38. Ferrari introduced an updated Control Electronics in China in response to the issue that cost Charles Leclerc a likely victory in Bahrain. Ferrari and Haas took on the new component in China but Alfa Romeo did not, and a subsequent failure on Giovinazzi’s car meant he had to take on another version of the old specification. As Alfa Romeo has taken on the updated version in Azerbaijan it means Giovinazzi is already on to his third Control Electronics of the campaign.
