Miami drops street race plans for Hard Rock GP

Formula 1's plans to host a grand prix in downtown Miami have been scrapped in favour of an event held next to the the Hard Rock Stadium, home of the Miami Dolphins NFL team. F1's new owners Liberty Media have been pushing for a second race in the United States. They had targetted Miami to host the event, however, plans to organise a street races never quite got off the ground, blocked by the local community. This has led local organisers to consider other options with land next to the Hard Rock Stadium, north of Miami, now being touted as a possible venue.
