Teams ‘short of tyres' for Q4 format

Teams have warned Pirelli that they will be 'short of tyres' if qualifying was extended to include a Q4 session. It was reported by Motorsport.com that teams pushed forward with the idea of a four-session knockout qualifying at the recent Strategy Group and F1 Commission meetings. But, teams remain sceptical that the idea of a Q4 qualifying session next year will work, unless the current number of 13 allocated sets of tyres per weekend is increased. It is understood that Pirelli don't want to provide extra tyres free of charge for 2020, which could prove a stumbling block.
