Leclerc takes maiden pole - Bahrain Grand Prix starting grid

Charles Leclerc produced a track record to earn his first ever pole position as Ferrari locked down the front row in qualifying at the 2019 Bahrain Grand Prix. Leclerc produced a stunning lap of 01:27.866 to take pole as Mercedes weren't able to follow up there one-two from Australia with a shut out in Bahrain. Sebastian Vettel qualified in second with a time of 1:28.160 but faced a nervy wait for Lewis Hamilton to come in but the Brit was only able to lap at 1:28.190 in Q3 meaning Ferrari had something to show for their early dominance.
