Bottas ‘blown away’ by Merc qualifying performance

Valtteri Bottas says he was “blown away” by Mercedes’ qualifying performance as it locked out the front-row of the grid for the Formula 1 season-opening Australian Grand Prix. Having dominated proceedings throughout practice, Mercedes’ apparent pace advantage continued in qualifying as Lewis Hamilton stormed to pole position ahead of Bottas, with the pair six tenths clear of Sebastian Vettel’s Ferrari. Mercedes arrived in Melbourne convinced it would be behind Ferrari in the pecking order following a strong showing from the Scuderia in pre-season testing, leading Hamilton to describe the gap to Ferrari as a “real shock”.  5774263478001 CrashTV:  Bottas echoed his...
