Renault: 2019 field closer, PU progress 'a big step'

Renault technical director Nick Chester believes that the performance difference across the Formula One grid could be reduced in 2019, bringing a more competitive year. Chester conceded that whilst the exact running order of the teams couldn't be determined, he believed that the teams would be closer together in performance. Following changes to the regulations for 2019, where new-specification bodywork is designed to allow Formula One cars to race closer together, the field was expected to stretch out, with the bigger-budget teams being able to steal a march on the competition.
