Pirelli explain tyre identification for pre-season testing

Pirelli have explained how their tyre compounds can be identified during pre-season testing, as the tyre colours change for this season. In an effort to simplify the way the tyre compounds operate, just three colours will be in use at Grands Prix this year: White, Yellow & Red. These will correspond to being the hardest, medium and softest compounds available at each event, which still can come from the range of the five compounds offered by Pirelli. However, for testing, this isn't possible as all five compounds will be available for use by the teams at all times. As a result, Pirelli have marked the hardest compound as C1 and the softest as C5.
