2018 Report Card: Alonso & Vandoorne

The Renault powered McLaren MCL33 was one of the worst Formula 1 cars ever produced at Woking, and as a result, both Stoffel Vandoorne and Fernando Alonso in particular simply did not have the tools at their disposal to deliver anything more than they did. In fact, it would be fair to say that without Fernando they might have finished even further down the order as the gutsy Spaniard racked up 50 of the team's total of 62 points, while Stoffel's inexplicable inability to beat his teammate in qualifying and most Sunday afternoons will always remain a mystery.
