Max Verstappen rues 'crap' session after narrowly missing pole

Max Verstappen labelled his Mexican Grand Prix qualifying as “crap” before going on to explain the problems he felt held him back, having missed out on an opportunity to take his maiden Formula 1 pole position. Verstappen topped all three practice sessions at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez and held provisional pole after the first Q3 runs. But Red Bull team-mate Daniel Ricciardo surged from fourth to first, edging Verstappen by just 0.026s, while the Dutchman was unable to improve on his final Q3 push lap.
