Arrivabene: Leclerc a long term decision taken by me
Ferrari team principal Maurizio Arrivabene has said the decision to replace experienced veteran Kimi Raikkonen with the raw talent of Charles Leclerc for next season was made with the long-term future of the team in mind. Leclerc has impressed in his first Formula One season at the modest Sauber team and the 20-year-old Ferrari academy graduate from Monaco was announced earlier this week as quadruple world champion Sebastian Vettel’s teammate from 2019. The appointment ends a long-held Ferrari tradition of hiring experienced drivers to race their cars, Leclerc the second youngest driver to don red for the Scuderia.
