Ericsson walks away from huge high-speed shunt

Marcus Ericsson walked away from a massive high-speed shunt when a failure launched his Sauber into the air where it catapulted end to end before crunching to a halt, the sight of the Swede walking down the pitlane to cheers from all was yet another testament to the safety of modern Formula 1 cars. The Sauber pitched left under braking into Turn 1 as something appeared to break on the rear, the driver a passenger, it slammed the barrier, flipped rolled and catapulted end to end before coming to a standstill in a crumpled wreck.
