Alonso to make major announcement

A new deal with McLaren? A full-time switch to IndyCar in 2019? A new range of Kimoa caps and t-shirts? We don't know exactly what, but we do know when. Fernando Alonso has teased an announcement to come this week as rumours about his Formula 1 future continue to swirl. Although McLaren CEO Zak Brown remains certain that success in F1 remains Alonso's priority, whether the team can deliver it is the major sticking point. Alonso's best finish since returning to McLaren is fifth place at this year's Australian Grand Prix, but the team have slipped behind the likes of Haas, Force India and Renault in terms of performance and reliability since then.
