Carlos Sainz nails Q3 lap to nab P5 for Renault
Hungarian Grand Prix – Renault's Carlos Sainz claimed a stunning P5 in qualifying on Saturday, only beaten by the two Ferraris & Mercedes drivers. Sainz was consistently one of the main stars of Saturday's mixed conditions qualifying hour, and ended up as the highest placed Renault powered driver as the two Red Bull drivers struggled. Sainz ended up in a league of his own in Q3, being half a second off the pace of the nearest car in front, that of Sebastian Vettel's Ferrari, but still almost a second clear of Toro Rosso's Pierre Gasly. “What an intense qualifying!' beamed Sainz afterwards.
