Alonso backs Vandoorne despite his poor 2018 season

Fernando Alonso has come out in support of his McLaren teammate Stoffel Vandoorne after the Belgian's recent struggles in 2018. Whilst Alonso has scored the majority of McLaren's points this year, Vandoorne has been struggling a lot of the time and off of the pace. McLaren will change Vandoorne's chassis this weekend after the team couldn't diagnose an aero anomaly compared to Alonso's car, but the Spaniard says that Vandoorne's credentials are more than good enough to earn his place in F1.
