Confirmed: Fernando Alonso will leave F1 before 2021

Whether by mistake or on purpose, Fernando Alonso has announced he will be leaving F1 before the 2021 season. In an interview on Grand prix.com, the Spaniard is asked about the 2021 tyre regulations.  He lets slip that he will not be racing in F1 post-2020. The McLaren driver said: “I don’t know and I don’t really care, I will not be here in 2021. “I’m more concerned about the problem we saw when nobody was on the track because of the rain and 50,000 spectators looked at nothing.”  It remains unclear if Alonso is leaving at the end of this season, or inside the next two.
