Hydraulic failure sends Hamilton down the order
Lewis Hamilton will start Sunday's German Grand Prix on the back foot after a hydraulic failure on his Mercedes put him out of contention in qualifying. The reigning world champion's Silver Arrows encountered the issue after it ran wide at Hockenheim's Turn 1, its driver pressing on and violently running over the kerbs as he attempted to rejoin the track. Formula 1 ponders return to 'one lap' qualifying format Hamilton was immediately ordered to stop his W01, informed of the car's hydraulic failure and the risk of damaging its power unit.
